Irún hosts “Hemp Business Day 2019”, the biggest hemp and CBD industry event in southern Europe

The wave has finally reached Spain. After several years hearing the concerns of this growing sector, 2019 will be the year to welcome the first major Cannabis Industry and CBD Congress to Spain. The first event will take place on April 26, 2019 and it will be called HEMP BUSINESS DAY.

This new event will take place within the framework of the Expogrow Fair, which for the eighth consecutive year will bring together the entire sector dedicated to the industry of cannabis and industrial hemp during the 26th, 27th and 28th of April at the Arena of Ficoba in the Guipuzcoan town of Irún.

HEMP BUSINESS DAY (HBD) aims to become the leading International Reference Congress of Industrial Hemp and the CBD in Southern Europe. HBD’s commitment to this emerging and growing industry is 100% and its main objective is to offer honest first-hand information in all areas  from legal to commercial and technical.

Hand in hand with international specialists in the sector, and leading companies operating at a global level, the different talks programmed in the HEMP BUSINESS DAY (HBD) will look deeply into all matters related to hemp and CBD, giving an insight in matters related to the regulation of this industry and the various opportunities that it currently offers at a national and international level. Applications in industries such as food, cosmetics, medicine, construction and bioenergy, plus trends and opportunities will be some of the issues addressed during the day, which will take place in morning and afternoon sessions between 9am and 5pm. Among the confirmed guests are GIANPAOLO GRASSI, chief investigator of CREA-CI, the only Italian research center with official permission of the Ministry of Health to produce cannabis on a large scale for research purposes. Grassi obtained the first three varieties of industrial hemp in Italy. SHAWN HAUSER, industrial hemp specialist of the North American law firm Vicente Sederberg, experts in helping companies negotiate the line between state and federal laws, licenses, commercial representation, etc. Shawn is an international leader in this market. BORIS BANAS, activist and businessman, who helped press the Slovak government to adopt the EU rules related to the cultivation of hemp. Co-founder of Hemp Seed Oil Europe Ltd, leading supplier of bulk hemp seeds for various industrial sectors. TOMAS SADILEK, Director of Government Affairs, International Cannabis and Cannabinoid Institute, who has extensive experience in the field of legal and illegal drugs.

They will be joined by CARL MARTEL, scientist and researcher, who studied and developed a system of post-harvest management and value added agricultural waste products, and SIMON ANDERFUHREN, Swiss group of research in addictions. Professor and postdoctoral researcher in international relations. He is one of the best qualified professionals to explain the CBD situation in Switzerland, one of the countries leading progress towards regulation of this cannabinoid in Europe, outside of the EU.
