4 of every 10 Canadians will decide their purchase point according to price

The legalization of recreational cannabis is already a reality in Canada. Until normalization in society begins to speak for itself, the global market research and consulting firm based in Paris, Ipsos, has conducted a survey on the consumer habits of Canadian citizens.

Four out of ten Canadians confess that it will be the price of cannabis that will determine whether they continue to buy on the black market or, alternatively, begin to buy on the legal market. This is the data revealed by an exclusive Ipsos survey for the Canadian television network Global News. This survey shows research on the use of marijuana in Canada.

Ipsos Public Affairs Vice President Jennifer McLeod Macey has stated that it is likely that if the governmentā€™s marijuana prices are too high, Canadians will maintain the status quo and continue to use the black market to obtain cannabis.

One third of the people surveyed, 36%, confessed that they will continue going to the same point of sale they acquired their cannabis before it was legalized. 14% declared that they will change their place after the regulation of the plant in Canada.

ā€œWe must remember that some users are already receiving it legally, medically. Many recreational users of cannabis are also medical usersā€, said Macey.

There will be no major changes after October 17th

Only 5% of the people surveyed admitted that they would base their cannabis purchase decision on the location of the stores. Ipsosā€™ Vice President of Public Affairs also added that 54% of Canadians (more than half) are not cannabis users and that ā€œthey really do not expect any change after October 17th.ā€

ā€œMany people are currently obtaining it illegally and do not expect it to change much,ā€ added Jennifer McLeod Macey.
